NEC LCD commercial screens are designed for public display and business use.

Small touchscreens 15-30-inch normally use Surface Capacitive touch, and this technology cannot expand over 30-inch. Over 30-inch LCD touchscreens normally use Projected Capacitive Touch (PCT) which is vandal resistant and you can use drag and drop.

Touchscreens that use Optical Sensor Technology are not robust, not vandal resistant and therefore not suitable for public dispaly. The Optical Sensor Technology has cameras in the corner of the screen and a reflective strip, so that it knows when you are touching the screen. These LCD screens are ideal for annotation, e.g. writing. Adding cameras needs a bigger bezel, therefore NEC use this technology on their Multeos LCDs.

Dispersive Signal Technology (DST) from 3M, works with vibration. This works on taps rather than touch and is therefore ideal for applications where you want to install the LCD touchscreens into tabletops. They are not good for drag and drop. You could put your hand on the tabletop and it would recognise that you weren't touching it, but when you tap to 'touch', it would recognise that and act accordingly.

Surface Capacitive from 3M, needs third party drivers for MAC users.

NEC has several ranges of LCD screens for various applications. The P series is designed for 24/7 applications in public areas. The V series is not 24/7 and is designed for office use. The Multeos M series have bigger bezels and can accommodate cameras for Optical Sensor touch technology, and these are not 24/7. For applications such as hospital patient management, then the P401, for example, is ideal for this use. NEC Spectraview LCD monitors are designed for professional photographers and people who need excellent colour reproduction.

Please note that normal (CRT) computer monitors have a viewable screen size 1" less  than advertised.  For example, a 15" CRT monitor is actually 14", where as a 15" LCD monitor is 15" diagonal.

These LCD monitors are designed to be used as normal computer monitors.  Only the ones marked as having video can accept input from video recorders, DVD players and video cameras.  You can play DVD movies with any monitor if your computer has a DVD drive and DVD movie player software installed.

Touch screen LCD monitors allow the mouse cursor of any computer to be controlled by touching the screen with your finger instead.  These include the software to do this.   Touch screen LCD monitors.

If you are an educational establishment, government establishment, large registered charity or blue chip company and wish to pay by 14 or 30 day account, then please fax your official purchase order for processing.

We would ask that you please do not book installation of your equipment before your goods have arrived and have been fully tested, as we accept no liability for installation or other cost occurred in the case of late delivery. Unfortunately, courier delays, manufacturer supply problems, etc, are beyond our responsible control.
